Essentially Nielsen.com states that 1 in 2 Americans will own a smartphone by Christmas of 2011.  This increase will be so rapid, that by the end of 2011, Nielsen expects more smartphones in the U.S. market than feature phones.

The attraction is not hard to understand; a myriad of applications and features – too many for any one person and for every situation possible.  In addition, the technology is constantly improving and prices are falling, albeit slightly.  Also, the faster data rates now 4G and faster phone processors. But more importantly, people are using it to connect.  It’s an extension of their laptops.  As such, they’re expecting to get the same experience.
